Samsung certainly stands way ahead of its competitors in the Android market; thanks to its Galaxy series. The J Series, a subsidiary brand of Galaxy, got immense response from younger customers in the near past years.

The company has announced the 2017 editions of Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7; both of them get improved specs from their 2016 models.

In terms of design there is no difference between the J5 and J7. They both feature the same S7-like design on the front with curved antenna lines on the back. The back camera/flash layout features a vertical layout contrary to the traditional horizontal arrangement that you see in most Samsung phones.

Both the siblings incorporate Super AMOLED features with a slight difference in display sizes; the J5 has a 5.2″ 720p (1280 x 720) screen while the J7 comes with a 5.5″ 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution display.

Samsung has also introduced front-mounted fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. However, a major difference between both the phones is the IP 54 splash resistance for the J7, which the J5 doesn’t have.

We see Android 7.0 Nougat running under the hood as the default OS alongside Samsung’s custom UI. There is even no difference among both the devices as far as the system-on-chip is concerned; the same Exynos 7870 octa core 1.6 GHz processor.

Like a slight difference in display properties, we see the same trend in memory aspects as the Galaxy J5 comes with 2 GB of RAM whereas the J& houses 1 GB extra. However, the internal storage remains the same i.e. 16 GB with an option of expansion by using microSD card slot up to 256 GB.

As far as camera features are concerned, the J5 and J7 employ the same 13 MP sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and an LED flash. The difference lies in the front cameras where the J7 has a 13 MP shooter with an LED flash while the J5 only has a 5 MP sensor for selfie experience.

Then comes the power backup where we see an upgrade for the J7 while a downgrade for the J5; the Galaxy J7 has a 3,600 mAh battery (up from 3,300 mAh last year) while the J5 has a 3,000 mAh battery (down from 3,100 mAh from 2016).
