Allama Iqbal Open University is the largest one in South Asia offering ‘distance learning’ to students not only in Pakistan but for overseas as well, ranging from certificate courses to post graduate and research based programs.
Here comes a good news for AIOU students that they can now also apply for a laptop in the new phase of Prime Minister’s Youth Program. The university, on Monday, announced the laptop distribution for phase 4 and 5.
According to announcement, all those students who fulfil the criteria set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), can apply for laptops by 30th of November. The AIOU website says this about the Prime Minister Youth Program;
Prime Minister Youth Program is a special initiative launched by the Government of Pakistan in 2013 for five (05) years. The Youth Program comprises of several schemes including Prime Minister’s Interest-Free Loan Scheme, Prime Minister’s Youth Business Loans, Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme, Prime Minister’s Youth Skills Development Scheme, Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme for Students from Less Developed Areas and Prime Minister’s Laptops Scheme.
The Laptops Scheme is an incentive for talented students with an attempt to enhance the scope of research and quality education in the country and increase the access to information technology. More than 25,000 students, from various parts of the country, have been awarded with laptops under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program.
