Apple Watch Series 2 – Enhanced Features with GPS

Apple have introduced second generation of their smart watch – Apple Watch Series 2. The new gadget has been announced on September 7, 2016 and will be available on September 16, with orders starting from September 9 .

The device looks very similar to its predecessor but in fact it has a few changes and upgrades. The biggest difference between the two is the introduction of water-resistant technology and a GPS chip.

Apple’s Views

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on the launching ceremony of Apple Watch Series 2, “Apple Watch has changed what people expect from the watch. Apple is now the number two watch brand in the world behind Rolex, ahead of Fossil and Omega. But we are just getting started.”

Enhanced Features

The company also upgraded the processing speed with a dual-core processor. The new processor is 50 percent faster than its predecessor, with double the video performance.

Besides, the display is 50 percent brighter as compared to the previous version. So now, using apps and general manoeuvring through the watch’s interface is much snappier, especially with the software-side upgrades we’re getting with watch OS 3.

The Apple Watch Series 2 has the same casing for the lower- and middle-tier models. So the cheapest version comes with an aluminium case, while the next tier up has a stainless steel one.

Apple has also added a white-coloured ceramic model this time for its fans who want to drop a large amount of cash on the smartwatch. There’s no word yet on the future of the gold Apple Watch Edition.

Pokemon Go on Apple Watch

Yet another excitement is Pokemon Go that is coming to Apple Watch. It’ll surely help trainers to see how far they’ve walked, how many calories they’ve burned and how close your Poké eggs are to hatching or when there are nearby Pokémon or Pokéstops.

The company has also collaborated with Nike to bring in a special Nike+ version of the Apple Watch. It resembles a fusion of an Apple product with Nike’s discontinued FuelBand fitness tracker. This is especially for those folks who go for regular exercises and workouts.

Price

Apple Watch Series 2 starts at $369 while the Ceramic Apple Watch Edition starts at $1,249. The original Apple Watch will be named the Apple Watch Series 1 and will feature the same dual-core processor found in the Series 2, priced at $269
