The federal government has once again extended the deadline for mobile phones registration in Pakistan till February 15th. As per local media reports, State Minister Hammad Azhar has formally announced the latest extension by saying that the deadline for mobile phones registration with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been pushed until February 15th.

The State Minister was quoted while addressing a ceremony related to World’s Customs Day at Wahga Border. He further said that the government is moving to make Pakistan a smuggling-free country and that after February 15th, all the non-registered mobile phones will be blocked in the country.

He stated that the new finance bill was rolled out to introduce a business and export-friendly environment that will generate employment in the country. The mini budget has not added any new taxes on the public, but reduced existing ones, he said.

Not to mention, that the government has been pushing the deadline for mobile phones registration every now and then for one reason or the other. It started with December 1st last year then it got pushed forward to 31st December. The telecom authority then delayed it until 15th January and now, February 15th.

Meanwhile, the PTA mentions on its official webpage that the people are required to get their mobile phone registered until the deadline. The authority would start blocking unauthorized and unverified mobile phones whenever the deadline ends.
