Google Doodle Celebrates 89th Birthday of Abdul Sattar Edhi

Google, the largest search engine, pays tributes to well-known personalities or marks significant occasions by displaying “doodle” just above the search bar on their homepage.

On the occasion of 89th birthday of late Abdul Sattar Edhi – “Angel of Mercy” of Pakistan, Google is displaying his doodle in various countries today to pay tribute on his untired efforts to bring up humanity.

Abdul Sattar Edhi was a Pakistani philanthropist, ascetic and humanitarian who founded the Edhi Foundation which runs hospitals, homeless shelters, rehab centres, and orphanages across Pakistan.

Edhi sahib was born in India on February 28, 1928 but moved to Karachi shortly after Pakistan was formed. He soon noticed that many Pakistanis lacked medicine, education, and other essentials and he made it his life’s mission to help others.

He established the Edhi Foundation In 1951 which is funded solely by private donations. He died at the age of 88 on July 8, 2016 at Karachi, Pakistan.
