Google is always there to introduce unique and innovative features for their subscribers keeping them safe and secure online. To make your data, apps and smartphone more secure, the tech giant introduces Google Play Protect for Google Play Services 11 or higher.

It does not sleep and actively scans your device day and night. Users need not to worry about any malware or security threat as the Play Protect automatically scans their devices around the clock. The latest utility is a unification of Android security systems like Verify Apps, browser protection, and anti-theft measures.

Google said in a blog post, “Play Protect brings control to your fingertips while giving guidance along the way. Together, we lay out the ideal security blanket for your mobile device.”

Google Play Protect

Google Play Protect is a security package for Android devices consisting of app scanning, browser protection, and anti-theft measures. The app scanning feature is actually built into any device that comes with the Google Play Store — it doesn’t need to be installed or activated separately and it doesn’t need any manual input to work. This is an always-on service, said to scan 50 billion apps per day across a billion Android devices to ensure they are safe.

Of course, Google makes attempts to verify app security at the point at which they are uploaded to the Play Store too, but this alone does not guarantee eternal safety. And so, Google also makes use of daily scans and machine learning algorithms to help stay one step ahead of any potential threats; if it does encounter a malicious app, it can disable it to prevent further problems.

While the Google Play Protect app scanning feature works automatically, you can customize its settings — like turning off regular security threat checks (though I don’t recommend this) — by visiting Google > Security > Verify Apps in your phone’s settings.
