HTC, the Taiwanese firm, is all set to formally unveil its new flagship device dubbed as HTC U12+ on May 23, 2018. The company has chosen an interesting way to announce the event by teasing an image (shown below) with all the components that go into a smartphone. We assume all those components are part of the next flagship device as it seems unlikely to involve a different device in the announcement.
Reports claim that the HTC U12+ will be the only high-end smartphone to be released by HTC during the year 2018. However, the smartphone is supposed to gather all those ingredients that will make it to stand next to any flagship device of the year with respect to performance and features.
The HTC U12+ is reported to bring a 6-inch bezelless QHD+ screen, a Snapdragon 645 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64/128GB native storage, a dual camera setup on both sides and a 3,500 mAh battery unit. The smartphone will be running on Android Oreo out of the box with a committed upgrade to Android P later on.
According to a recent report, the upcoming HTC venture is said to be available in four color variants of Red Rose, Black, Violet, and Translucent whereas it won’t be a cheap option in the market. The leaked expected pricing of HTC U12+ for Taiwanese market provide an idea of what it will sell for in other markets.
As the smartphone offers two storage options; the base variant of 64GB will be priced around NTD 22,400 (~$753, PKR 87,000) whereas the 128GB will cost you about NTD 24,400 (~$820, PKR 94,700).
We think, the specs sheet and price tag relationship is fair enough. However, the success of next HTC device will really matter for the company’s existence in the market as a real competitor. Let’s hope the best for HTC and wait for May 23rd to meet HTC U12+ in real. Stay tuned.
