The Honor series of Huawei might be seen as company’s mid-range brand that is quickly shedding out of this image. The recently launched devices of Honor V10 and the Honor 7X brought almost high-end specs that rivalled Huawei’s own flagship devices.

However, higher price tags with those flagships are considered the main limitation for the budget customers. Fortunately, Honor is always there to cater the core market and brought Honor 9 back in June this year with premium quality at affordable price range. The company has now included another member of Honor family naming it the Honor 9 Lite making an improvement over the mid-2017 premium model.

The Lite variant of Honor 9 is a dual SIM device by default that accepts two Nano SIMs. The newest entrant of Honor series becomes one of very rare mid-range devices equipped with 18:9 aspect ratio display running on Android 8.0 Oreo OS. Likewise, the phone comes with a 5.65-inch display having resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels at density of 428 PPI.

The embedded 1.7GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor ensures high performance of the smartphone. Moreover, the phone comes either with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option or 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. The storage may be extended up to 256GB by using a dedicated microSD card slot.

Furthermore, Honor 9 Lite features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a decent 3,000 mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, 3G and 4G. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor.

The Honor 9 Lite comes with quad camera setup; dual lens for rear as well as front side. User won’t need to feel a tinge of jealous whichever of the two to choose from. Both have the same sensors, one 13 megapixel and one 2 megapixel, both RGB though the latter is for depth sensing.

Pricing and Availability

Here comes the main factor to be considered for budget enthusiasts – the price tag. According to details, the Honor 9 Lite 3GB/32GB variant comes for RMB 1,199 (~$180 or PKR 19,900) while the higher version of 4GB/64GB comes for RMB 1,799 (~$270 or PKR 29,850).

The Honor 9 Lite has been launched in China on 26th December to be followed by 14 other countries and regions in early 2018. However, there is no word on US availability yet.
