Huawei Mate 10 Pro is considered to be the most durable smartphone from the Chinese tech giant. The device can withstand not only in any weather conditions but can hold any kind of misuse like scratch, burn or bend. The latter is what that has proven true in a recent test.

The device is probably the first smartphone that witnessed a political influence in making its way to the US. Hours before its proud announcement, AT&T pulled out from its partnership with the Chinese tech giant. However, Huawei decided to go without carrier perks and strings and started pre-orders this week.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Durability Test

JerryRigEverything, a YouTube channel known for its tough durability tests on smartphones, has chosen Mate 10 Pro as their first device of the year to go with. Interestingly, the smartphone proved to be one of the most durable phones of 2018.

In terms of scratching, we don’t expect the devices coming with the Gorilla Glass protection on either sides to perform poorly; so does the Mate 10 Pro. The only part of this device that easily scratches is a plastic coating on the fingerprint sensor. Fortunately, that still works even after having been severely scratched, unlike some other high-end phones. The cameras (front and back) and Huawei logo sit beneath glass thus they cannot be scratched.

Looking at the video, it is evident that Huawei Mate 10 Pro proved its strength to withstand a burning flame for 40 seconds just like Samsung’s Galaxy S8. It scratches just when you expect but unlike some LCDs, the Mate 10 Pro’s display does not recover once the flame source is removed.

As far as bending is concerned, the video reveals that the Mate 10 Pro passes the JerryRigEverything’s durability show with flying colors. There is simply no flex or bend on either side! Its glass screen, rear glass panel and metal power button remain intact after bending.

About Huawei Mate 10 Pro

As mentioned earlier, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is currently up for pre-order in the US despite facing some hurdles. As a reminder, the smartphone is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 970 processor coupled with 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB configuration.

Mate 10 Pro is equipped with a Gorilla Glass protected 6.0-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen having an 80.9% screen-to-body ratio with a 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution.

In the camera department, we have a 12MP + 20MP camera on the rear coupled with an 8MP shooter for selfies. It runs a pre-installed Android Oreo OS and its lights are kept on by a non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery.
