Huawei was reported earlier to launch the next-generation of Mate-series smartphones including Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 Lite very soon. However, the latest reports reveal that the premium mid-range device dubbed as Mate 20 Lite has been made available for purchase in Poland as the most affordable variant of the three.

Mate 20 Lite – Features

The Mate 20 Lite brings a bigger 6.3-inch display on the front with Full-HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Interestingly, Huawei has introduced a notched display this time resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio of 81 percent, compared to the 76.5 percent in its predecessor.

The device gets powered by the company’s own recently launched Kirin 710 chipset under the hood consisting of four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and another four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. The GPU is an ARM Mali G5 which is said to be 1.3 times better than that of the Kirin 659 and 1x more energy efficient.

The Mate 20 Lite features a memory combo of 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, just like we’ve seen for the Mate 10 Lite. Previous reports suggested the 6GB RAM variant as well that is expected to be made available in other regions. A dedicated microSD card slot is also there to expand memory by up to 256GB.


Huawei has upgraded the camera configuration for the Mate 20 Lite that consists of a 20MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP secondary one, placed vertically in the top-centre position. There’s a dual-camera setup on the front side as well that sports Face Unlock features comprising of a 24MP primary snapper and a 2MP secondary shooter.

Coming to the connectivity, the Dual SIM phone now comes with NFC support. The company has also replaced the micro USB port with the USB Type-C port. Further, it now comes with support for dual-band Wi-Fi — 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor placed just below the camera module on the back side.

In terms of software, the phone is running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with the company’s own EMUI 8.2. It also comes with the GPU Turbo, which enhances the phone’s performance. The phone is fuelled by a 3,750mAh battery and support fast charging technology.

Mate 20 Lite – Pricing and Availability

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite has been made available in Poland with three color options to choose from Black, Gold, and Blue with price tag of PLN 1,599 (~$431, PKR 53,000). Although not yet announced but the Mate 20 Lite is likely to enter other markets including Pakistan very soon.
