Huawei has unveiled a duo of its best smartphones ever – Huawei P30 and P30 Pro at an event held in Paris. Although both the siblings come with large curved AMOLED displays and quad camera setups but the P30 Pro takes the spotlight for its diverse storage features and extra smart photography features.
Huawei P30 Series – Features
Starting with the most visible part the Huawei P30 Series – the curved Full HD+ AMOLED display having resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a dew-drop notch. However, the regular P30 brings 6.1-inch screen while the P30 Pro a little larger measuring 6.47-inch in size.
We have an on-screen fingerprint sensor along with another interesting feature – the Acoustic Display Technology that introduces an in-screen speaker eliminating the need of including a separate earpiece slot on the display; making the whole thing seamless. However, there is no headphone jack.
Huawei has used the world’s first 7nm processor – HiSilicon Kirin 980 under the hood ensuring that the smartphones performs the best at all times. The Chinese tech giant has also added a thin layer of graphene film for heat dissipation, keeping the phones cool while you game or multitask.
Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are dual SIM supported handsets running on Android 9.0 Pie with Emotion UI 9.1 laying on top. Although the P30 model offers only one storage option of 8GB/128GB but the P30 Pro brings three storage variants of 128GB/256GB/512GB with the same 8GB RAM. However, both the siblings support a NM card for further expansion of storage.
Huawei has also introduced a new Extendable Read-Only File System (EROFS) that is meant to improve the file read speeds for faster app start-up, making the phone feel snappier. Another addition is the Huawei Share OneHop, allowing you to share data with other Huawei phones and laptops easily.
As mentioned in the opening paragraph, the photography is the main highlight of Huawei P30 Series. Both of the phones come with Huawei’s AIS and OIS for stabilized photography, to help against blurred shaky photos and allow you to capture smooth and steady videos.
Huawei P30 Pro being the elder sibling offers a quad-camera setup with a 40 MP f/1.6 SuperSpectrum Sensor, a 20 MP Ultra-wide sensor, an 8MP SuperZoom lens with 50X power and a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) camera for depth mapping.
The Huawei P30, on the other hand, has a slightly toned down 40MP SuperSpectrum Sensor, a 20 MP wide-angle sensor and an 8 MP telephoto lens; no hybrid zoom on this one.
A cool edition is the Dual-View mode that uses the ultra wide and SuperZoom lens to record two different videos at the same time, showing the zoomed-in video on one side and the ultra-wide angle shot on the other.
Huawei has packed different batteries under the hood of the new duo, most probably keeping in view the power and usage. We have a 3,650 mAh battery for the regular P30 and a larger 4,200 mAh battery unit for the P30 Pro. However, Huawei claims that both the batteries would bring a day-long usage with single full charge.
Speaking of charging, Huawei’s 40W SuperCharge tech is included in both of the phones, making it easier to charge your P30 and P30 Pro in a pinch. Other than that, there’s 15W wireless charging on board the P30 phones as well as reverse wireless charging from the Mate 20 phones from last year.
Pricing and Availability
Continuing its trend of gradient finishes, Huawei brings the P30 phones in three color variants including Amber Sunrise, Breathing Crystal and Aurora, other than the basic black model.
