Huawei, a trusted Chinese brand in Android market, has unveiled Maimang 6 in the local market of China – which will likely be launched outside of China as the Mate 10 Lite in coming days. It features the Mate series mainstays like the humongous screen and dual cameras at just a fraction of its price.
The build quality of Mate 10 Lite looks like the premium one, coming with metal in three colour options – Black, Gold and Blue. The device weighs 164 grams and measures 7.5 mm in thickness. There is a large 5.9″ IPS panel on the front with a 2:1 aspect ratio of several recent flagships. It comes with a respectable 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution.
The Maimang 6 or Mate 10 Lite is also dual SIM device by default with a hybrid microSD/SIM card slot. It comes with Android Nougat 7.0 as the main operating system enriched with Huawei’s own EMUI 5.1. Under the hood, there lies Huawei’s own Kirin 659 processor supported with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable storage setup. Connectivity needs are taken care of by Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and Wi-Fi, while the charging port is likely the USB-C standard.
As evident from the image above, the Maimang 6 has dual cameras on the front and the back. Featuring four cameras, the Mate 10 Lite has 16 MP + 2 MP shooters on the back with an LED flash along with a bunch of customizations including bokeh effect. The front also boasts a 13 MP + 2 MP setup supporting several effects of its own.
The battery capacity is set at 3340 mAh. We can expect it to support fast-charging but Huawei hasn’t said anything yet.
Price and Availability
Pre-orders for the Maimang 6 already kicked off in China, with the phone officially launching on September 30th for CNY 2399 (around $365) in black, gold, and blue colour options. Expect the phone to launch globally later this year as the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, alongside the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro.
