The smartphone photography has evolved over the years as manufacturers are focusing on providing DSLR-like results in smartphones by upgrading camera lenses. Huawei pioneered the concept with its triple-lens camera setup for Huawei P20 Pro comprising of a 40MP main lens, a 20MP monochrome lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. It seems that the competition is likely to grow in coming years.
iPhone with Triple Camera Setup?
We are right to say the above line as another tech leader – Apple is reportedly following the footsteps of Chinese tech giant in introducing ‘triple lens’ for the upcoming iPhone model next year. This has been revealed in the latest report published by a Taiwanese website Economic Daily News quoting a research paper of Deutsche Securities analyst Jialun Lu.
Although, the upcoming iPhone appears to be greatly inspired by Huawei P20 Pro, yet Apple is expected to introduce its own modifications to make at least one innovative flagship iPhone in the year 2019.
According to report, the analyst Jialun Lu predicts that Apple will surely upgrade the 3D sensing technology earlier introduced in iPhone X’s Face ID while coupling the stereoscopic vision in its triple-lens camera setup. In other words, the rear lens of the upcoming iPhone will use the same TrueDepth sensor that was first seen on the front of the iPhone X.
How significant is the additional lens for the upcoming iPhone? Lu believes that it will offer enhanced zooming capabilities; thanks to its longer focal length. The telephoto lens is likely to offer a 3x optical zoom; surpassing all previous models like iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 featuring 2x optical zoom.
