HMD Global is slowly strengthening its presence in Android market through its portfolio of stock-Android-running smartphones. Starting with the trio of mid-range devices of Nokia 3, 5, and 6, the company augmented its high-end with the Nokia 8. It seems that company has also decided to enter the low-end arena as well.
Just leaked by Evan Blass, the Nokia 2 looks like a generic cheap phone. The image shows two color options for the upcoming device, black and white. The back of the device shows a vertically placed rear camera with LED flash.
Blass didn’t share any details about the Nokia 2, but we can make some guesses based on some other clues we’ve got about the phone.
First, you might have noticed that the phones in the leaked image show October 5 as the date. It may be assumed that this would be the launch date but other sources claim it will take longer to get on surface.
Second, the Nokia 3 could be an ideal phone to know what to expect from its smaller sibling. The Nokia 3 is already very budget-friendly – it features a 5-inch 720p screen, 2GB of RAM, a MediaTek processor an 8MP rear camera and a 2630 mAh battery; all for just PKR 16,900. The Nokia 2 will probably have a smaller screen but a roughly similar processing package and a less fancy, plastic build with a lower price tag.
Finally, the recent FCC certification of the Nokia 2 reveals that the phone could shine in at least one area – battery life. The docs show a monstrous battery of 4,000 mAh. That’s 30 percent more than the top of the range Nokia 8, and definitely an unusual spec for a budget-minded phone.
According to various reports, the Nokia 2 will come with the following features:
- OS: Android Nougat
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 210
- RAM: 1GB
- Display: 5 inches
- Resolution: 720×1280 pixels
- Battery: 4000 mAh
