Lenovo, a Chinese manufacturer, has announced two new budget smartphones with the refreshed Moto E phones for 2017. These are the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus offering the most basic specifications with an affordable price tag.
The Moto E4 comes with a 5 inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display and seems to be flavourless and basic in design; after all you would not expect too much from a budget device. It looks like a cheaper version of the Moto Z introduced last year. Even though the Moto E4 cones with water-repellent nano coating.
The Moto E4 Plus comes with a 5.5 inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display including water-repellent nano coating. A quick look at the Moto E4 Plus shows that it resembles the regular Moto E4. However, if you look closely you’ll notice that the camera and flash is a bit pressed in with a chrome border around both. Unlike the E4, the E4 plus has a metal and plastic body that justifies the higher price.
Both the siblings are powered by Android 7.1 Nougat having 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage (E4 Plus has a 32 GB version). However Moto E4 comes with either Snapdragon 425 or 427 whereas E4 plus includes the latter.
On the camera front we see an 8MP primary camera and a 5 MP front shooter with an LED flash associated with the younger sibling whereas the elder one comes with a 13 MP rear sensor and a similar 5 MP front camera with an LED flash.
Another major difference that justifies the price tags is the power backup property; the Moto E4 has a 2,800 mAh battery while the Moto E4 Plus has a massive 5,000 mAh battery unit.
Price and Availability
The two phones will be made available starting from $129 for the Moto E4 and $179 for the E4 Plus. As expected, the twins of the Moto E family will be made available to the Chinese market in first phase. We’ll have to wait for their exposure to Pakistan and international market.
