Although tablets having comparatively larger displays are being phased out of the market with the advent of smartphones with 6 inch and above screens. Even though some manufacturers are still there to bring tablets with lower price tags in an effort to grab attention of the users.

Lenovo is one of such manufacturers that has brought a pair of ultra-affordable tablets that come with reasonable specifications – Lenovo Tab 7 and Lenovo Tab 7 Essential.

Lenovo Tab 7

The Tab 7 is a lightweight device that comes with a 7-inch display having resolution of 1280 x 720 with IPS LCD panel at the front. The device incorporates a MediaTek™ MT8161 Quad-core processor under the hood.

It comes with Android 7.0 out of the box and you should not expect a single update on this tablet as Lenovo already sucks while delivering updates for their devices. However, you’ll get a moderate 16 GB of internal storage supported by 1 GB of RAM; seems below par nowadays but you can’t expect more from an ultra-affordable tablet.

The Tab 7 comes with front-facing speakers to provide you an excellent audio experience. Lenovo says that it will give you the best audio experience even if you are listening through your headphones. Although Lenovo has not mentioned the battery capacity but the tablet will last 15 hours of general usage on a single charge; this is what Lenovo claims.

The device comes with a multi-account user interface which means that more than 1 persons can use the device with their own accounts. On the camera front, the Tab 7 offers a 5MP lens at the back and another 2MP on the front.

Lenovo Tab 7 Essential

The Tab 7 Essential is also a lightweight product that comes with the same 7-inch display but with a lower resolution of 1024×600 pixels. It has a MediaTek™ MT8167D Quad-core Processor clocked at 1.30 GHz.

Like its bigger sibling, the Tab 7 Essential runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box without any further updates, as mentioned earlier. However despite difference in price tags, the Tab7 Essential also comes with 16 GB/ 1 GB combination of memory features.

It also comes with multi-account support so that your whole family can use it without any privacy issues. However, the Tab 7 Essential does not enjoy Lenovo’s high-class sound features but it also has a front-facing speaker.

Owing to lower price tag, you’ll get the same 2MP lens for front and rear facing cameras. However, Lenovo claims 20-hours battery life but does not provide further details of battery source.
