Lenovo is a well-known Chinese brand that brings unique and innovative features in their smartphones line-up. This time the tech giant has come up with a remarkable concept device – Lenovo Folio.
The device is a tablet in its original shape but it becomes a normal size smartphone when you bend it. Lenovo Folio is introduced by Lenovo at the third annual Lenovo Tech World. It can be folded in half transforming into a full-fledged smartphone. Mind-blowing, isn’t it?
Whether you think of it as a foldable tablet that folds into a phone or a phone that opens up to a tablet, Lenovo Folio works either way. The tablet market is on a decline with people opting for larger phones, but this may be the come-back tablet not just for Lenovo but for all tablet producing companies.
The key specifications associated with Lenovo Folio, revealed so far, are listed below:
- 7.8-inch screen with 1,920 x 1,440 resolution
- 5.5-inch phone after folding
- A Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor
- Android 7.0 Nougat
- Automatically adjustable UI
It seems that the specifications don’t matter in the case of Lenovo Folio but anyone would buy this for the bendable screen since user can simply unfold it for large screen uses.
Expected Release Date
As we mentioned in the intro lines, the Lenovo Folio is a ‘concept device’ – that means the device may not be available as a consumer product in the markets in the near future. Nevertheless, knowing Lenovo’s past trends, we won’t be surprised if the device makes its way to the public within a year or two.
Same Concept by Other Players
It is well established in the market that Oppo and Samsung have also been working on a foldable tablet-phone for a few years now. Some reports claim that Samsung’s foldable tablet named Galaxy X may be launched by the end of 2017, however, other reports suggest that the tech-giant is facing production issues which may delay the launch till 2019.
