Apple introduced a new trend last year with the iPhone X that is now well-known as the bezelless and taller display. All the major players of the smartphone industry jumped into the arena and brought a number of devices with same features.
However, it seems that a Chinese brand Lenovo has achieved something marvelous as the company’s Vice President, Chang Cheng, has teased a “full-screen smartphone” on his official Weibo account suggesting to launch a smartphone with no notch and 95% of screen-to-body ratio; something like Vivo APEX series.
The teaser image shown here displays a portion of the smartphone that hints of ‘no notch’ design. Not to mention that the notch remains the most criticized innovation of the new design features. Although. Almost all the manufacturers have adopted the trend but some have decided to abstain – like Lenovo.
In his post, the VP also started a voting poll asking viewers about how much screen-to-body ratio a truly full-screen phone should have. The poll gave users to choose an option from:
- 80-84% screen ratio
- 85-89% screen ratio
- 90-94% screen ratio
We’ve seen manufacturers like Huawei, Nokia, LG, OnePlus, Xiaomi and others already moving to this trend as well but the latest tease by Lenovo suggests that the company wants to go in a different direction of attaining the highest screen-to-body ratio.
June 14th – The Release Date
If this claim by Lenovo proves to be true then the upcoming Lenovo smartphone will deliver a real full-screen experience the likes of which no other device on the market can truly match.
However, not much has been revealed about the smartphone so far which means we will have to wait a bit to get additional information. The teaser also says that the new device will be launched on the June 14th this year. So we expect to see more images and renders in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned to follow another trendsetter of the year.
