Lenovo, a famous Chinese brand, has claimed to attain the highest ever screen-to-body ratio of more than 95% on its upcoming smartphone named as Lenovo Z5. Only a few days earlier, we’ve come across an interesting teaser shared by Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng that hinted to bring a new flagship phone in June this year with the highest visible screen size. The teaser image only showcased one corner of the phone with no notch design and no noticeable bezels all around.

Lenovo Z5

Cheng has now come up with another teaser that confirms the name of the phone as well as its design features. The smartphone will be named as Lenovo Z5 making its debut from the coming month offering a screen-to-body ratio of more than 95 percent, as claimed earlier.

As Cheng has now confirmed the Lenovo Z5 moniker, it is speculated that the upcoming device will be arriving to challenge Xiaomi that has launched comprehensive screen enabled smartphones like Mi MIX, Mi MIX 2 and Mi MIX 2S. We’ve already seen Vivo APEX prototype that resembles in the design features of the Lenovo’s upcoming venture.

Talking about the sketch shared by Cheng, it is evident that the alleged Lenovo Z5 will offer largest screen space ever seen on a smartphone as it does not feature top and bottom bezels. Although not mentioned but the presence of antenna bands on the left edge of the phone suggests that it may feature a metallic chassis. The bottom bezel, however, seems to feature a USB-C port.

Techniques to Minimize Bezels

Mr. Cheng disclosed that they are planning to introduce five new techniques to minimize bezel size and to derive efficient ways in placing the earphone, camera and fingerprint scanner.

Though he has not described what exactly those technologies are but we presume that the selfie camera may be housed in a tiny retractable module, just like the Vivo APEX, that slides out when the user switches to the front camera in the camera app.

Likewise, the Lenovo Z5 might be using bone-conduction audio just like the original Xiaomi Mi Mix for replacing the earpiece.

Moreover, as in-display fingerprint sensor is no more secret on smartphones after the Vivo X20 Plus UD, it is also expected that the Lenovo Z5 may become official with the same security features next month.

Not to mention that as of this writing, there is no information available on the specifications of the Lenovo Z5 but we expect the company to come up with more details in coming days.
