LG, the second largest smartphone brand in South Korea, has altered its release schedule for 2018. As reported earlier, instead of launching a brand new device in the first quarter, the tech giant has opted to bring an upgraded version of LG V30 named the LG V30s. The new report reveals that LG may bring its flagship device of the year called LG V40 by the end of second quarter.

LG V40 Leaked Specs

According to details shared by Venture Beat, the upcoming phone will possibly be the successor of LG V30 having code name of “Judy” or LG V40. The smartphone may bring a 6.1-inch screen with a new display technology called MLCD+. The new display is said to include a new white sub-pixel in addition to the RGBW color matrix that will increase brightness consuming 35% less energy as compared to an IPS LCD.

The LG V40, like most of the other flagship devices of the year, will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor along with an Adreno 630 GPU. Although, the base model may bring a memory combination of 4GB/64GB but we expect to see more storage variants as well.

On the camera front, the LG V40 may be equipped with a dual camera setup at the rear having 13MP + 13MP lens; both with f/1.6 apertures. As of writing, there is no information surfaced for the front-facing shooter. However, the upcoming flagship device will follow the footsteps of LG G6 and LG V30 to carry an IP68 certification rating for dust and water protection.

Other features are HDR10 support, wireless charging, digital assistant, voice recognition, and a camera infused with AI. The phone is reported to be scheduled for a June launch this year.

LG V40 Concept Video

An interesting concept video of LG V40 is shared by Science and Knowledge that makes it easy to guess how the flagship device will look like. We may not take the video too seriously as it is shared by a third party and the real device may or may not differ in many aspects.

In the first sight, you may consider it the true copy of LG V30 which is perhaps a suggestion that the device will draw much of its design features from its predecessor. The glass is protected by yet to come Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The LG V40 is showcased having four radiant colours including Blue, Red, Silver and Black.

The concept reveals a curved edge design at the rear and a dual camera setup. The rear cameras are placed horizontally with dual LED flash at the right and an autofocus sensor at the left; just like LG V30. However, there is no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as it is considered to accommodate an in-display fingerprint sensor like Vivo X20 Plus UD.

We expect to see more leaks and rumors highlighting design features and under the hood specs of LG V40 in coming days. Stay tuned.
