LG has just unveiled an improved version of its last flagship device, the LG V30
that surfaced in September last year. As reported earlier, the new phone dubbed as LG V30S ThinQ brings tons of new and improved features including the most awaited LG Vision AI Technology.
As we know LG had delayed bringing its new device at the MWC 2018 and contented with an upgraded version of its already known flagship device; supposedly not to get in direct competition with Samsung Galaxy S9 that is due to be launched today, February 25th at Barcelona, Spain.
But that doesn’t mean that LG has nothing new to showcase as the LG V40 will be the main focus that is scheduled to be launched by the end of June this year.
LG V30S ThinQ with Vision AI & Voice AI
The LG V30S ThinQ looks identical to LG V30 and brings the same physical appearance with no noticeable difference. However, the main variance lies in the software upgrade as the new device has been filled with AI (Vision AI and Voice AI).
The Vision AI covers image related tasks and is split into AI Cam, QLens and Bright Mode whereas the Voice AI involves the Google Assistant with 32 LG V30S ThinQ tricks.
The AI Cam is a smart feature hidden in the phone’s camera that can identify the object you want to focus and recommend the best shooting mode; similar to what Huawei introduced with its Mate 10 Pro.
The Bright Mode adds a bit of lighting if you are shooting in a darker place keeping the balance for excellent capture. So think about to capture a person or object and let the AI Cam guide you through to get the most out of the main shooter.
The QLens is in fact the LG’s version of Google Lens – a Pixel exclusive feature. Just point the camera at an object near you and let QLens gather all the important information for you.
You may also scan QR codes and barcodes, or get landmark descriptions. LG also says you can perform an image search using QLens.
In order to use Voice AI, you can simply say “Okay Google” like on other devices and ask it to do some specific tasks like:
- Take a picture/selfie on a wide angle
- Record a video on a wide angle
- Take a documentary cine video
- Take a thriller cine video
- Take a food photo
- Take a low-light photo
- Take a slow-motion video
Some of the above commands are already available on the LG V30 but the last three are some of the new ones released along with the V30S ThinQ.

As for now, we don’t have any clue of the price tag of LG V30S ThinQ but it is confirmed that the smartphone will land in its hometown South Korea in first phase followed by other markets. The new device will be offered in Platinum Gray and Moroccan Blue color options to choose from.
