Meizu, a Chinese manufacturer, is all set to unveil the new flagship smartphone Meizu Pro 7 next week on July 26. Reportedly, the smartphone will have an additional display at the back for added functionality; most probably enabling you to take selfies with the rear shooter as well.
The design was leaked a few weeks back showing a relatively small display at the back just below the camera modules. The screen at the back isn’t grey scale, rather it is a full colour LCD panel.
There hasn’t been any official statement regarding the functionality of the screen but the main purpose of the screen is to assist the user in taking selfies with the rear dual facing cameras.
Although official specifications will be announced on 26th of July, but let’s have a look at what to expect keeping in view the leaks and rumors surfaced on major tech blogs so far.
The Meizu Pro 7 will come with a 5.2 inch 1080p front display having a 16 MP front facing shooter at the top for taking selfies on the go. The smartphone will also house its dual 12 MP camera modules and the secondary display at the rear.
The Meizu Pro 7 will be the first device to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio X30 SoC; the first from MediaTek on the 10nm node, featuring two 2.5GHz Cortex A73 cores alongside four 2.2GHz Cortex A53 cores and four 1.90GHz Cortex A53 cores.
Meizu is also rumored to launch a Pro 7 Plus variant alongside the regular version; most probably the Plus model would be powered by the Exynos 8895. Other speculations indicate it may be used as an always on display similar to the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6.
Let’s wait for the official event to see what the second screen has to offer on top of what we already know.
