Prime Minister Imran Khan has recently announced to build as many as 5 million low-cost houses and create 10 million jobs across five years of his term, as promised during the election campaign earlier this year. The pilot project of ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Program’ has been kicked off in seven districts across the country including Islamabad, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Swat, Quetta, Gilgit and Muzaffarabad.
Meanwhile, the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has been tasked to gather data for the housing needs of the people. The Authority has issued the registration forms for the NPHP on its website, ready to download and submit along with registration fee.
Naya Pakistan Housing Program – A Flagship Project
The project of building 5 million homes in five years term for the people of the country is one of the ambitions of PM Imran Khan that seems nearly impossible but the start of its pilot project clearly defines the commitment behind his words.
During the third week in power, the PM constituted a task force and urged it to come up with suggestions within a week. According to the details, the government is responsible to provide the required land for the project and play the role of a regulator and facilitator throughout.
Furthermore, the government will address all the hurdles and will ensure a suitable environment for public and private sectors and non-profit organizations to execute the project seamlessly.
PM Khan believes that the successful completion of the Naya Pakistan Housing Program will also create millions of jobs and flourish at least 40 industries directly involved in house building:
