HMD Global has announced the maiden appearance of Nokia 7.1 to the Indian market followed by the official unveiling of the device in London in October this year. The latest entrant to the Nokia lineup, the Nokia 7.1 is part of Google’s Android One program running Android 8.1 Oreo OS out-of-the-box.

Nokia 7.1 – Features

The Nokia 7.1 brings a 5.84-inch Full HD+ “PureDisplay” on the front with 19:9 screen aspect ratio and a notch on top. HMD Global claims that the PureDisplay’s internal HDR can convert the SDR content into the HDR in real-time.

The Nokia 7.1 is a dual SIM supported handset by default that runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS as of now. However, the Finnish company has promised the Android Pie update by the end of this month and future updates for two years keeping the Nokia 7.1 ‘up-to-date’ for long.

The device is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor under the hood. We have an Adreno 509 GPU controlling graphics while two options of memory combos are there ensuring swift performance and ample storage that is 3+32GB & 4+64GB. Moreover, a microSD card slot is also there to further expand the memory up to 400GB.


The photography department of Nokia 7.1 is dominated by a Zeiss dual camera setup placed vertically in the top-center position on the rear comprising of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary one for depth sensing. The main camera comes with features like True Life HDR, Bokeh mode, Pro Camera mode, Livestream functionality and Bothie. On the front side, we have an AI-backed 8MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The device is is packed by a 3,060mAh battery backup that comes with support for fast charging as well. Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C 2.0, NFC, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Nokia 7.1 – Pricing and Availability

As mentioned earlier, Nokia 7.1 is scheduled to make the maiden appearance in India on December 7th. However, the Finnish company has plans to launch the higher variant of the device with 4+64GB memory configuration.

The device, priced at INR 19,999 (~$287, PKR 40,000), will be available through Nokia’s own online store as well as other leading mobile retailers across India in two colors options to choose from Glossy Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel.
