HMD Global has fulfilled another commitment of bringing high-end features to the mid-range market in the shape of Nokia 7.1 equipped with great display and design features along with respectable everyday performance. The design is really elevated with a notch and a 6000-series unibody aluminum frame having glass on the back.

Nokia 7.1 – Features

The Nokia 7.1 brings a 5.84-inch IPS panel on the front with Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. More importantly, it is a PureDisplay display with PixelWorks chip, which allows it to show HDR10 content, as well as upscale SDR to HDR for a better everyday experience. We have to see it in action to know how well it works.

The device is part of Android One, so the Android 9.0 Pie upgrade is virtually guaranteed. HMD Global has powered the Nokia 7.1 by embedding an octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC under the hood that is paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB expandable storage respectively; thanks to the hybrid slot.

The photography department is dominated by a dual camera setup on the rear comprising of 12MP + 5MP lens; the latter being a depth sensor for bokeh effect images. However, an 8MP lens placed on front of the device is used for selfie shooting. Interestingly, both the rear and front shooters can combine to form “Bothies” showing both the front and the back view in a single picture.

The Nokia 7.1 is fuelled by a 3060 mAh battery unit that brings fast-charging on-board. The connectivity options include USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi ac, NFC, and LTE.
