The wait is over; HMD Global has finally unveiled the first ever true flagship device under Nokia brand – the Nokia 8. The new smartphone brings flagship specs, flagship build quality and also a flagship price to match.

Earlier we have seen a trio of budget smartphones from HMD Global – the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The New Nokia 8 offers a challenge for big names in the market like Samsung and iPhone.

The design of Nokia 8 is not too impressive as it follows the footsteps of the previous Nokia phones released earlier this year. However, it still features an attractive build. Nokia says that the unibody has a high-gloss, mirror-like finish on the back that takes 40-stage process of machining, anodizing and polishing to achieve.

We have seen many flagship devices with either 5.5 inch or 6 inch screen size but Nokia has decided to go with a a 5.3-inch display size; perhaps keeping the phone small and handy. The screen resolution comes in at QHD (2560 x 1440) with an IPS LCD panel which should offer good viewing angles.

Nokia 8 comes with another unique feature – the Ozo Audio that enables users to capture 360-degree audio with the help of three mics and some of the company’s own audio capturing algorithms. This gives the Nokia 8 an ability to capture audio with immersive 360-degree spatial surround sound.

As we go deep inside, we see Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 835 chip paired with an Adreno 540 GPU. Handling all the multitasking is 4/6GB of RAM. The 6GB variant comes in the Glossy Blue colour having 128GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the 4GB variant comes with 64GB of ROM.

The Nokia 8, like its predecessors, runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.1.1 right out of the box but Nokia claims it will be one of the first devices to get the Android O update when it becomes available.

As we move on to the most demanding feature – the camera, we have two 13MP sensors on the back; one to shoot in RGB and the other in black & white. There’s also a 13MP front facing camera equipped with autofocus features. All three cameras are Carl Zeiss branded and all have f/2.o apertures.

Another highlight of Nokia 8 is the Bothie feature that combine pictures from both the front facing camera and rear facing camera into one.

The last but not the least is a powerful battery source associated with the latest flagship Nokia 8 – it is a 3,090mAh battery supported with Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging.
