HMD Global has just added another midrange device to its Nokia lineup while unveiling the mysterious Nokia X6 at an event held in Beijing, China. If you remember, the same moniker was used to be an iconic music-oriented Symbian-running phone first launched in 2009 as Nokia’s first phone with a capacitive touchscreen. However the Nokia X6 of today is an Android based smartphone with mid-range specs sheet.
Nokia X6 – Features
The Nokia X6 comes with a 5.8-inch Full-HD+ display with 2280 × 1080 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio that is covered by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect from minor scratches. The device becomes the first Nokia smartphone that is equipped with a notch on top of the display, similar to that of Apple’s iPhone X.
The device gets powered by Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor; the same one that powers up the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. The X6 is offered in three storage options including 4GB of RAM paired with 32GB and 64GB native storage and another model that brings 6GB/64GB memory combo. There’s also a microSD card slot in all these variants enabling users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB.
Coming to the camera department, the smartphone features a dual camera setup on the rear comprising of a 16MP RGB primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary monochrome sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On the front side, there’s a 16-MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 1.0um pixel size.
HMD Global further claims to equip the camera sensor with artificial intelligence (AI) features for improved photography, such as optimized color, field and portrait lighting effects as well as face recognition features. Furthermore, the Bothie feature enables users to use both front and rear cameras simultaneously to capture an image.
The Nokia X6 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box and also comes with Do Not Disturb mode for gaming. The device is fuelled by a 3,060mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology that can deliver up to 50 percent of charge in 30 minutes.
Further, the smartphone also comes with a Face Unlock feature as well as a fingerprint sensor placed on the back panel. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
Nokia X6 – Pricing and Availability
