OnePlus, the Chinese brand that has celebrated its 4th anniversary last month, is well known as the Flagship Killer that brings feature-rich smartphones having fast processing speeds with affordable price tags. It is now confirmed that the brand is all set to introduce latest version of Android OS to its older devices.

Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus has affirmed at the CES 2018 that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get Face Unlock feature in an upcoming beta build. He said:

There’s no reason to withhold features we can easily implement.

Not to mention that the feature was first introduced in company’s latest flagship device OnePlus 5T. As OnePlus uses a customized version of Android for its devices called OxygenOS in its smartphones, therefore one should not mix it with the Face ID feature of iPhone X that works on 3D depth sensing technology via device’s front-facing camera sensors.

The company released latest images of the OxygenOS 5.0 (Android 8.0 Oreo) back in November indicating to incorporate in the 2016 flagship, the OnePlus 3 and 3T. The same has been now affirmed by Carl Pei.

It is worth mentioning that the company earlier announced to bring stable Android 8.0 Oreo update for OnePlus 5 along with the Face Unlock feature, however they cancelled the rollout after the discovery of a malicious bug, when the device was in the beta version. The company apologized for its earlier claim and assured that Oxygen 5.0.1 update will come along Face Unlock feature.

Let us hope to see new features in older OnePlus models very soon.
