The latest version of the Android OS is making its way to different devices in a row. OnePlus, a Chinese brand known for its flagship killers, has recently released Android Oreo update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

Although there were news of discontinuing OnePlus 5 after the launch of OnePlus 5T but the brand is reportedly all set to release Oreo update for OnePlus 5. It is also heard that OnePlus 5 will get a Face Unlock feature with the Oreo update. Not to mention the feature was already introduced in the latest OnePlus 5T.

OnePlus 5 to Get Android Oreo Update

OnePlus has made the beta version of Android Oreo update available for developers for now and we expect to see the stable version of the update striking OnePlus 5 by the start of next year. OnePlus has also released flashing guide for users, who want to experience Open Beta, however, it is obvious that this unstable version is expected to have bugs in it.

The upcoming Oreo update for OnePlus 5 will enable the users to experience premium features of the latest Android OS like Picture-in-Picture, Auto-fill, Smart text selection, and a new Quick Settings design.

Moreover, numerous OnePlus specific features like Parallel Apps, Notification Dots for the OnePlus launcher, a new app folder design and the ability to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus will also make their way to appear on OnePlus 5 display.

Most interestingly, the OxygenOS 5.0 update in OnePlus 5 will also enable the phone to use Face Unlock option using front camera sensors of the device. The latest OnePlus 5T brings the same feature but that runs ogn Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Be sure that the feature is no way in comparison with the FaceID introduced for iPhone X.

It will be great to experience the new feature of Face Unlock in the older model too. You can visit detailed changelog for Android Oreo in OnePlus 5 on the company’s forum.
