OPPO, the camera specific smartphone brand from China, has launched another mid-range smartphone powered by Face Unlock features in Indian market – OPPO A83. The device was unveiled in China last month while it goes on sale in India starting from January 20th.
OPPO claims that the A83 is designed in line with its UFO Curve Design Philosophy. The device is equipped with thin-bezelled full-screen display and preloaded with the company’s AI Beauty Recognition technology to enhance selfies and group shots.
OPPO A83 – Prominent Features
The OPPO MA83 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) LCD display and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device measures 150.5×73.1×7.7mm in overall dimension while it weighs 143 grams. Powering the internals is a 3,090mAh battery.
The dual-SIM supported OPPO A83 runs Color OS 3.2-based on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. The device for Indian customers comes with an octa-core MediaTek MT6763Tprocessor clocked at 2.5GHz to power up the device paired with 3GB of RAM. The phone also features 32GB inbuilt storage expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).
In terms of connectivity, the Oppo A83 comes with options including 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 /b/g/n, GPS, Micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Wi-Fi Direct. Sensors on board include proximity sensor, accelerometer, and compass.
For camera department, the OPPO has equipped the A83 with a 13MP sensor and an LED flash on the back while another 8MP shooter is there on the front for making video calls or taking selfies. The rear camera sensor supports Ultra-HD mode that can create an image of 50-megapixel resolution.
The Oppo A83 uses the front-facing camera to sport new facial recognition technology; touted to capture more than 200 facial points to refine features and compose the face contour with precision. As per Oppo’s claim, the new technology can unlock the phone within 0.18 seconds using 128 unique feature points on the user’s face.
OPPO A83 – Pricing and Availability
The phone will be available through Amazon India and Flipkart as well as through offline stores. The device will be available in two colour options — Black and Gold. Priced at Rs. 13,999 (approximately $219), the device will go on sale in India from 20th January.
