OPPO Find X has become official with its state-of-the-art motorized sliding cameras and a truly bezelless design with no noticeable notch on the front. The 2018 flagship of the Chinese manufacturer has done something similar to Vivo NEX by adding a pop-up motor to protrude the camera lens whenever the camera app is launched – but this time, there are three pop-up cameras in addition to a 3D facial recognition unit instead.
OPPO Find X – Features
OPPO Find X features a distinctive external design that looks both futuristic and premium. The phone resembles with galaxy S9+ in terms of curved edge display but a little larger and narrow bezels all around. The rear of the phone is plain enough with no signs of fingerprint sensor and camera lens as the rear cameras slide out kind of like the slider phones of old.
Interestingly, OPPO has completely vanished the fingerprint scanning on Find X; relying entirely on the facial recognition. The front camera has to slide out from within the phone in just 0.5 seconds; reading your face in one second and going right back within the body. Flashy stuff!
The OPPO Find X features a stunning 6.4-inch AMOLED panel on the front with FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels that covers almost the entire face of the body. The design attains aspect ratio of 19.5:9 while the official screen-to-body ratio stands at 92.25%. – beating all others.
As far as internals of the device are concerned, the Find X follows the 2018 trend and embeds an Octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset under the hood with 4×2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold and 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver cores. The phone offers diverse options in memory aspects with 6GB/64GB as the base variant while the higher models carry 128GB and 256GB of native storage paired with 8GB of RAM. Impressively, OPPO managed to retain the microSD slot so you can expand the internal storage by up to 400 GB.
OPPO, being a camera-centric brand offers dual camera setup on the rear comprising of a 16MP and 20MP combo that is housed in a pop-up drawer. Both these sensors have an aperture size of f/2.0 supporting flagship grade features such as OIS, dual-tone LED and other photography features.
On the other hand, the selfie camera manages up to an impressive 25MP lens with f/2.0 aperture as well as AI features for background blur and portrait mode effects. The front camera obviously utilizes Find X’s infrared facial recognizer, so the photo edits are realistic and accurate.
The Find X has a dual SIM slot that sits at the bottom beside the USB-C port. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with OPPO’s Color OS 5.1 lying on top. The smartphone comes preloaded with standard features seen in most of the OPPO devices.
OPPO has introduced a fairly large 3730 mAh battery unit inside the Find X to keep the lights on for quite a long time. The power source supports OPPO’s VOOC fast charging (5V/4A) features. There’s also a Type-C connector beneath that doubles as an audio jack because it does not ship with a headphone jack.
OPPO Find X – Pricing and Availability
OPPO Find X is really a premium flagship device that brings vibrant colors to choose from Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. Initially, OPPO is likely to launch the Find X in its hometown China but the international launch is expected to be announced very soon. Although, there’s no official word on its pricing but the find X is expected to bring lower price tags than Samsung and Apple’s products.
