Nokia is under discussion on many of the Android blogs, not only for the re-launch of iconic Nokia 3310 but because of evolving a prototype of a high-end Nokia Android smartphone, reportedly Nokia 9. Folks at FrAdnoid.com shared some features of the Real Flagship Killer that would become reality in coming days.
Remember Nokia has not officially announced something about Nokia 9 but FrAndroid claims that it is the prototype Nokia 9. Nokia has only announced three smartphones in the lower mid-range Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 which are due to be launched globally in May and June including Pakistan.
Prototype Nokia 9
The design of the phone said to be prototype Nokia 9 is not identifiable as it is packed within the protective shell. However the shell allows access to the major components and parts of the phone which actually require user interaction. What you can identify is the aluminium build of the phone with the plastic antenna stripes.
You can see that the phone adapts a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, aluminium built volume rocker buttons, some sensors alongside the earpiece, a home button (with a fingerprint scanner), app switcher and back button. Home button is not clickable but touch feedback. It’s not confirmed if its pressure sensitive like iPhone 7 or not.
This prototype Nokia 9 surfaced with a pair of high quality earphones with full cable control featuring play, pause and two volume buttons. The unit might feature Quick Charge 3.0 as it came with a multi-voltage/current charger rated as 5V/2.5A, 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A.
According to the spec sheet by a device info app, the prototype Nokia 9 has a 5.27-inch WQHD display with resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, which seems to be quite unique since we have seen 5.2 or 5.5-inch screens mostly. It has 530 nits of maximum brightness and features the Nokia’s trademark always on screen as well.
The Nokia 9 running on Android Nougat 7.1.1 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile platform (model no. MSM8998) with the CPU clock speed of 2.46GHz. The phone have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There could also be a 6GB RAM variant in Nokia 9.
The smartphone has two cameras on the back, protruding a bit with laser autofocus and a dual tone LED flash. As expected one is a color sensor and other one takes photos in monochrome. The front camera is said to be an 8-Megapixel snapper; however, no specific details are available about it.
It comes with a Quick Charge 3.0 charger, capable of delivering 5V to 2.5A, 9V to 2A or 12V at 1.5A, however the battery capacity is still unknown.
It features a 3.5mm headphones jack, USB Type-C and stereo speakers as well. Other connectivity options might include NFC and wireless charging; but, those are not confirmed yet.
Price and Availability
Forget about availability as far now as the already announced Nokia 3, 5 and Nokia 6 have not been fully shipped globally. They are yet to be shipped in May and June 2017. So you can expect the Nokia 9 to be announced along with Nokia 8 or Nokia 7 sooner or later but sure this year.
Nokia 9 is said to compete against flagship phones like Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7 therefore it will have a flagship price tag as well, with the base model starting at $750 (PKR 78,500 approx.) or more. You can just take this price for now with a pinch of salt.
