psl-2018-players-draft-completed

Pakistan Super League 2018 has witnessed the successful completion of players’ draft by all the six participants on Sunday. Players were divided into five categories; Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. The teams had to pick one player each from the first three categories whereas two each from the remaining two.

However, all the teams picked four more players in the Supplementary rounds to complete their side of 20. Not to mention, the Supplementary Rounds are for those players who the franchises can call upon for those not be available for the entire season; which could come into the picture if some of the players refuse to travel to Pakistan.

Hot Picks of the Day

The PSL management had already announced players’ pool in different categories having different prices. The explosive Australian batsman Chris Lynn and West Indian star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo were the top picks of today’s picks. Lahore snapping up Lynn meant the potentiality of a destructive opening pair for the franchise of Brendon McCullum and Lynn.

Multan Sultans, the latest entrants, were seeking a spinner who would slot in seamlessly into the XI and given Tahir’s recent record, including in the IPL earlier in the year, it was a no-brainer for them, after having snapped up Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Kumar Sangakkara as a part of the pre-draft last month.

Luke Ronchi, the New Zealand wicket keeper-batsman, who had retired from international cricket earlier in the year, was snapped up by Islamabad United in the Diamond round. Lahore wanted to strengthen their pace stocks with the skillful Mustafizur Rahman. Karachi Kings went in with a similar strategy by picking former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson.

Luke Wright, who played for Quetta Gladiators in the first two seasons, will represent the Karachi Kings in the upcoming season, being picked in the Gold round. However, the West Indian big gun Chris Gayle found no place mainly because of ill-performed previous PSL season
