Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, recently launched a duo of Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro for the Indian market with commitment to provide face unlock feature for the Pro model very soon.

Interestingly, the next day of official sale of Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi has rolled out the maiden update introducing the face unlock feature, as promised. This makes the Redmi Note 5 Pro the first device from Xiaomi to have face unlock feature.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Gets Face Unlock Feature

According to details, Xiaomi has rolled out MIUI v9.2.4 NEIMIEK over-the-air (OTA) update targeting Redmi Note 5 Pro. The update volume is quite bulky of about 1.6GB in size that includes camera improvements and stability optimizations.


It is learnt that the new update will be available out of the box for customers who ordered the Redmi Note 5 Pro through its first flash sale earlier this week. However, users can also manually check its availability by going to the Settings > System updates option.

Both the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro are running on the latest MIUI 9, based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box featuring the trending full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The devices are powered by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery.

The Redmi Note 5 features a 12MP main camera at rear with a f/2.2 aperture and another 8MP lens on the front. Whereas, the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with dual camera setup at rear with a 12MP Sony IMX486 primary and a 5MP secondary sensor. On the front, it features a giant 20MP Sony IMX376 camera sensor for making video calls and taking perfect selfies.

As far as pricing factor is concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is priced at INR 9,999 for the 32GB storage variant and INR 11,999 for 64GB madel. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro costs INR 13,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant and INR 16,999 for the 6GB/64GB version.
