So the mystery is over as Samsung unveils the most rumoured duo of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in an exceptional event at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. With that the new entrants have become talk of the town as everyone is talking about the new venture of South Korean tech giant. Though, most of the specs were already leaked in the press, the smartphones still managed to blew us away; thanks to the first ever dual-aperture camera.

Features of Galaxy S9 & Galaxy S9+

Design

As the names of both siblings imply, the Galaxy S9+ brings a larger display than that of Galaxy S9 making it a better choice for those who prefer larger screens. While both the panels come with 2960 x 1440 pixels resolution, the S9+ houses a 6.2-inch display while the S9 rests with 5.8-inch size. Likewise, thickness being the same i.e. 8.5mm, the elder sibling is 0.4-inch taller and 0.2-inch wider than the younger one.

The duo of Galaxy S9 brings Infinity Display with super slim bezels and curved edges stunned with metal and glass finish. Samsung has come up with a slight change on the back of both flagship devices as compared to the last year’s Galaxy S8 models while relocating the fingerprint scanner just below the main camera setup. You will be able to choose between black, purple, blue and grey color options on both phones.

Internals and Storage

Both the siblings are powered up by the same Exynos 9810 octa-core processor, however some US versions will be packed by Snapdragon 845 chipset. In the same way, both the devices run TouchWiz UI based on Android Oreo while the camera software brings a couple of changes. With these minor differences, overall interface will be quite similar featuring the Bixby personal assistant.

Both devices run TouchWiz UI based on Android Oreo, however, there will be a couple of differences in the camera software between the two devices but overall, the interface will be similar. Bixby, the last year’s wonder boy manages to have a makeover for the Galaxy S9 duo, helping user to find the best while serving the direct shopping links or translating any sign; a handy feature while traveling abroad.

Camera

Samsung released a number of teasers over the week highlighting the camera specs for Galaxy S9 and its Plus variant. Frankly speaking, both the flagship devices have major differences in their camera specs and even appearance. The Galaxy S9 has a single lens camera on the rear while the S9+ comes with a dual camera setup on the back.

If we talk about the “Camera Reimagined” slogan, it seems to be true for the Galaxy S9+ that is equipped with adjustable camera aperture. While both phones have Samsung’s fancy new 12MP dual-aperture camera, only the Galaxy S9+ has a second 12MP camera with a 2x telephoto lens for zooming in closer to your subject.

Battery and Pricing

Another difference lies in the battery capacity of both siblings as the Galaxy S9 runs on a 3,000mAh power source and the Galaxy S9+ accommodates a 3,500mAh power pack. Both devices support fast charging and wireless charging, though.

Samsung has also unveiled the pricing for the US versions of both the smartphones; the Galaxy S9 with $740 and the S9+ with $840 price tag for the base models.

if you are curious about price of Samsung Galaxy S9 in Pakistan, you’ll have to wait a bit for official announcement. However, we anticipate to see the S9 for PKR 95,000 to 105,000 whereas the Plus variant may cost you from PKR 105,000 to 120,000.
