Samsung has finally made official the smartphone we were waiting for! This is Samsung Galaxy Note 9 that looks mostly the same but brings major improvements in the S-Pen, camera setup and bigger battery.

Galaxy Note 9 – Features

The Note 9 brings no significant change to the design features of Note 8 as it offers the same glass sandwich and rectangular body encasing a huge display on the front along with a matte finish metal frame that offers nice grip. On the other hand, while looking at the rear, we meet a rectangular module that houses the rear facing cameras along with LED flash while the fingerprint sensor has moved a little lower, out of the module.

The Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED panel on the front that offers Quad HD+ resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels coming at 514 PPI pixel density that brings more brightness and better outdoor visibility. The screen is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Note 9 brings major improvement in its performance department over the Note 8 as it offers region-specific Samsung Exynos 9810 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processors along with two RAM options of 6GB and 8GB. However, you won’t be able to see a 64GB variant as the internal memory options include 128GB and 512GB models. However, users may expand the memory by up to 1TB while using the microSD card slot.

The photography department of the Galaxy Note 9 is dominated by a dual camera setup of 12MP + 12MP on the rear. One of those lenses offers variable aperture ranging from f/1.5 to f/2.4 while the other one brings fixed aperture of f/2.4. The South Korean tech giant promises 30% noise reduction to experience professional photography offering scene detection as well as flaw detection. It’ll notify you directly from the camera app if there was a problem with your shot, letting you shoot another one right in the moment. The front camera brings the same 8MP lens with no significant improvement from the previous year’s model.

Samsung has extensively improved the S-Pen of the Note 9 that becomes the most functional S-Pen ever. It is now powered by Bluetooth LE (low energy) with a 10 meter range along with a capacitor that charges up within 30 seconds, letting you use its new clicking features for 40 minutes. It can detect a short press, long press or double press on the button for different functions. It can be used with a camera, the short press acting as a camera shutter and a double press switching between front and back cameras.

Samsung has been conscious enough for the battery department of the Note series after the Note 7 fiasco. While the Note 8 was equipped with a relatively smaller battery unit that made many of Samsung fans annoyed, the Galaxy Note 9 offers an upgrade with a bigger battery of 4,000 mAh unit with Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charge tech as well as wireless charging support. Samsung claims that the battery would last you throughout the day under normal circumstances.
