Samsung was reported earlier this month to introduce an affordable variant of the Galaxy S8 to be named as Galaxy S8 Lite that was said to bear quite similar design features of the S8. The launch event held at Jingdong headquarters in Beijing, China, as indicated by the invites received by media. However, the unveiled device carries the moniker of Galaxy S Light Luxury in the end.
Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury – Features
Despite removing the ‘S8 Lite’ from the name of new entrant, it is quite evident that the Galaxy S Light Luxury is actually a smaller version of the Galaxy S8. It has the same curved glass display on the front with small bezels and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor next to the back camera.
The Galaxy S Light Luxury runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung’s Grace UX skin on top of that. The smartphone features a 5.8-inch Infinity Display, AMOLED panel on the front with Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9.
The smartphone carries a glass on both sides including an IP 68 water and dust resistance rating. The iris scanner along with Bixby and Face Unlock makes the Galaxy S Light Luxury a real ‘plus’.
The S Light Luxury differs from the S8 while embedding a Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood to power up the device along with a memory combo of 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. However, that storage is expandable via a hybrid microSD/second SIM slot.
There is dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB-C port, dual SIM support and a 3.5mm audio jack for connectivity. The S Light Luxury packs a moderate 3,000 mAh battery unit that supports fast charging as well as Qi wireless charging.
On the camera department, the Galaxy S Light luxury incorporates a 16MP f/1.7 sensor with PDAF and an LED flash but lacks OIS or any other form of stabilization support for the main camera. Up front, the device comes with an 8MP selfie shooter on the front with autofocus.
Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury – Pricing and Availability
Samsung has started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S Light Luxury in China while the shipment will be kicked off from June 1, 2018. The device is exclusively offered in two colors – Black and Burgundy Red with price tag of CNY3999 (~$626, PKR 72,500).
As the company has not announced a global launch of the Galaxy S Light Luxury as for now, therefore we can’t say when the device will make its way to Pakistan. However, keep visiting these pages to follow the story in coming days.
