We have seen great innovations in the field of smartphones over the past few years. The latest being most amazing that is bezelless display, infinity display or full screen display; whatever you may call but the new trend has made smartphones more eye-catching. What next? Off course the ‘foldable display’ that may be surfaced in next year or so.
But do you remember the older days of feature phones when the ‘flip phones’ became popular due to their unique design? If not, be ready as Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, is all set to reintroduce that older design in the rush of most advanced smartphones.
Although Samsung remained in rumors to introduce foldable phones in 2018 but the recent leak suggests that they are actually working on an Android-powered flip phone called the SM-W2018 that presumably will be launched in the beginning of the next year.

If the image posted by leakster appears to be real, you’ll most likely be amazed by this innovation. So whether it’s flip phones or folding phones, we’re excited to see phone makers try something different.
Samsung W2018 – Expected Features
We know for sure Samsung W2018 will be running on Android Nougat 7.1 and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. On the memory front we may encounter a 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, expandable by a microSD card slot. We will have a 4.2-inch AMOLED display along with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.
The W2018 will drain energy from a rather small 2,300 mAh battery and will feature a fingerprint sensor on the back side. Moreover, W2018 may also support Iris scanner that may unlock the phone by scanning users eyes; the feature already introduced in Galaxy S8.
In the meantime, Huawei is also rumored to be launching its foldable phone series at the very beginning of the next year. ZTE is also launching Axon M having two interactive screens that opens like a book by the end of this year.
Pricing and Availability
At first, Samsung might launch the phone in the Chinese market with a price tag of around $2,000 (about £1,520 or PKR 210,100), if the phone comes with same specs mentioned earlier. However, it is not yet revealed when the phone will be available for global market.
Well, the price tag is the one that is unbeliveable for us. A flip phone with double the price of iPhone X??? We did a lot of search but many of the renowned tech blogs have posted exactly the same price for Samsung W2018. If this is true, the higher price factor would become the only reason of failure of this innovative device.
