Samsung is preparing to conquer the smartphone world with their next year venture – Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The smartphones are supposed to be new trendsetters in many features including new design model, powerful 3D front camera setup and the larger battery than ever. The company was also optimistic to bring fingerprint scanner embedded under the display for Galaxy S9 but it seems that we would not be able to see it; at least with S9 duo.
It was rumoured earlier that the duo of S9 would bring a fingerprint scanner embedded under the display. However, the latest reports from South Korea claim that Samsung has decided to quit from this unique feature as the company has finalized on the specs of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with fingerprint scanner on the back.
The reports claim that the South Korean tech giant started pilot production of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in October. And, now with the finalized specs sheet for both the phones, Samsung is all set to start mass production of S9 duo from early December.
Reportedly, Samsung is working on embedded fingerprint scanner under the display for long but has not succeeded as yet due to some technical issues not been handled so far. As the screen-to-body ratio on newer smartphones has been increasing consistently, Samsung finds it difficult to locate enough space at the front to bring fingerprint scanner.
With these reports, we assume to see fingerprint scanner located somewhere near the main camera at rear of Galaxy S9 and S9+, like their predecessor models. However, it is also heard that Samsung has worked to re-locate sensor in order to avoid unintended smudging of the rumored dual lens.
Is that the end of In-Display Fingerprint Sensors?
Well, we think ‘NO’. But we anticipate to see this tech crunch been solved with the introduction of Galaxy Note 9 that is speculated to debut in August 2018. The future plans of Samsung suggest that the company may start pilot production of the Galaxy Note 9 in the first quarter of next year.
