Samsung has recently launched its new flagship devices Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with price tags in six figures for Pakistani customers; somehow out of reach of Galaxy fans. It seems that the South Korean tech giant has decided to bring the lower-priced Galaxy S9 to cater for those Galaxy fans who could not afford higher prices as a well-known tipster from China has claimed that Samsung is testing the Galaxy S9 Mini phone in China.

If we look into the past, Samsung released Galaxy S5 Mini back in 2014 as a smaller and affordable edition of the Galaxy S5. However, the company did not continue the same trend for Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 in recent years. If the new leak proves true, it will be a great sigh of relief for many of the Samsung customers as far as price tags are concerned.

According to the details, the tipster revealed in his claim that the Galaxy S9 Mini has model number of SM-G8750. While the same model number has been spotted on Geekbench, it seems that the Galaxy S9 Mini truly exists. The Geekbench listing has revealed some of the key specs of the rumoured smartphone.

Galaxy S9 Mini – Rumored Specs

The Geekbench listing of SM-G8750 reveals that it is preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo. The Galaxy S9 mini could be the first smartphone from the South Korean company to feature the Snapdragon 660 mobile platform. The SoC is coupled by 4 GB of RAM. In single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the Galaxy S9 mini has respectively scored 1619 and 5955 points.

We don’t have any other information on the main specs sheet of the Galaxy S9 mini. However, it is speculated to arrive with Infinity Display design being the member of Galaxy S9 family. Its display could be sized between 5-inch to 5.5-inch and it may carry support for 18.5:9 aspect ratio like the Galaxy S9 duo. Also, it is unlikely to feature dual camera setup like the S9+.

As of writing, there is no official wording from the South Korean tech giant about the release date or price factor of the Galaxy S9 Mini. Since Samsung China has been spotted with testing the new variant of Galaxy S9, it is assumed that the smartphone may arrive with a cheaper price tag to take on the leading smartphones in the mid-range bracket.
