Sony, the Japanese manufacturer, remained the top brand in Pakistan at the time when Nokia was the only leader in the industry. It was reported earlier that Sony was planning to re-enter Pakistan with latest Xperia devices. The news proven true as the Japanese tech giant has unveiled seven of its Xperia devices for Pakistan in a glorious event that was kicked off with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by National Anthem of Japan and Pakistan.

Mr. Ozaki, Retail Head Sony for the Middle East and Africa Region, thanked everyone for giving Xperia another chance to make a new story with the Pakistani users and said, “Our key message is that we are always thinking about how to create differentiation with South Korean and Chinese companies’ handsets.”

He further said in a media talk, “Pakistan has 200 million population and most of them are transitioning from feature phone to smartphone. The target market which prefers $200 phones is gradually growing and thus, it is the right time to enter the Pakistani market.”

Mr. Ozaki takes Samsung as their real competitor in Pakistan and believes that Sony has great opportunity to make its room with the products like Xperia XZ, the first smartphone with 4K HDR display, Super Slow Motion etc. Sony is going to gather users response for plans to see the response of users in the first two months and will then plan if and how they plan to expand their brand in Pakistan.

Zeeshan Mianoor, COO Inovi Technologies (local distributor company) while talking to media said about Sony’s future vision for Pakistan, “We are hoping to grab 2-3% market share initially while in the next quarter we want to create around 10% market share for the Sony’s handsets.”
