It seems that the smartphone market of Pakistan is engaging more players from the globe; especially the manufacturers of budget and mid-range devices. It proves true when we hear that another Chinese brand – TECNO Mobile is all set to enter Pakistan on April 21 with at least six of their Android devices.

The Tecno Mobile is a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings; the company that owns two other smartphone brands itel and Infinix. The new entrant is well-known for its budget devices and holds a big share in the African markets – ranks among the three most popular smartphone brands.

Tecno Mobile enters Pakistan

Tecno Mobile has joined hands together with the United Mobile, a distributing company, to dispense Tecno smartphones across Pakistan. The launch event will be held in Lahore on April 21 where at least 6 of the Tecno devices will be unveiled first time in Pakistan.

However, these phones won’t be readily available in market and will go on sale early next month.

It is worth mentioning that Tecno smartphones will be priced mostly in the mid-range segment, the flagship devices Phantom 6 and 6 Plus could get price tag under Rs. 30,000 in Pakistan.

We can expect entry of these smartphones in Pakistan. Keep visiting us as we will update the availability and official price tags as and when disclosed.

The Reason behind Lower Price Tag

One of the prominent reasons of getting lower price tags even for the flagship devices from Tecno is the non-availability of high performing Snapdragon Chips; rather most of the phones are packed with entry level MediaTek Helio processors.

In terms of operating system, most of the phones will be running Android Marshmallow – however our major concern is security updates and future upgrades. While some Infinix handsets got Android Nougat updates, we can’t say for sure if Tecno smartphones will be getting regular updates.

On the contrary side, Tecno brings up to 4GB of RAM along with 64GB internal storage for its ‘high end devices’. The Phantom 6 also features dual-cameras on back and the plus version comes with a 4050mAh battery.

Future of Tecno in Pakistan

If Tecno desires to get strong hold in Android market of Pakistan, it must reconsider the price tags as most of the customers go with the lower price tags – one of the reason QMobile is more popular than the international brands in Pakistan.

Moreover the new entrant will have to compete with other Chinese brands like Huawei, OPPO, Xiaomi, Lenovo; the companies flooding the market with their handsets regularly.
