Two of the Chinese brands have reportedly decided to merge in Pakistan giving rise to another merger in telecom sector after Mobilink and Warid became one in 2016. Tecno Mobile is said to be in talks for an operational level merger with Infinix Mobile.

There have been rumors in market that both the companies are considering a merger in emerging markets including Pakistan. it is also revealed that sales and marketing teams of both the companies are in talks with each other while the original brand identity will remain the same. A Tecno Mobile representative confirmed the news while talking to media but refrained to share any details as “the talks were underway”.

Infinix Mobile, a Hong Kong-based company, is one of the popular brands in the Middle East having operational network in more than 30 countries. However, the brand has not succeeded to create a space in Pakistani market mainly because there is no official distributor network to reach the customers. The only main source of outreach for the brand is the online retailer – Daraz.pk.

On the other hand, Tecno Mobile has joined hands together with United Mobile – a distributor network that has successfully promoted the brand across Pakistan through local retailers. We have seen a number of camera-centric yet budget friendly devices introduced by Tecno mobile in less than a year time getting popular in the masses like Camon CX, WX4 Pro and Spark Pro.

The upcoming merger, if successful, would be more beneficial for the Infinix Mobile as the brand will be able to reach local distributors and retailers.
