Vivo APEX is transforming from a ‘concept’ to ‘reality’ on June 12th; this is what Vivo has revealed in official poster for its upcoming Shanghai press event that shows Vivo APEX along with the phrase “the future of smartphone is here”.
This will be the dream come true situation for those who love bezelless smartphones. If you remember, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held earlier this year witnessed lots of cool things on display but nothing was as exciting as Vivo APEX. The smartphone highlighted screen display, under glass unique fingerprint sensor and a pop-up selfie camera.
About Vivo APEX
Vivo APEX smartphone features unprecedented top and side bezels of 1.8mm, being the thinnest ones, along with a 4.3mm bottom bezel. The screen-to-body ratio is claimed to exceed 98%, if the bottom bezel reaches 1.8mm – ultimately creating the truly bezelless experience.
Some of the unique features of the APEX smartphone include a front camera in a retractable periscope-like drawer at the top, bone conduction speaker instead of an earpiece and an on-screen fingerprint sensor.
Transforming the entire bottom half of the OLED screen, users can touch anywhere on the bottom half of the screen to perform fingerprint recognition, enabling a more flexible and intuitive experience.
Vivo showcases the phone by posting a new video ad of upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018:
Recently, we’ve seen Lenovo claiming to attain screen-to-body ratio of above 90% with the upcoming Lenovo Z5. However, there’s no word on how the company plans to house various front-mounted sensors, including the camera, but so far Vivo’s retractable periscope iteration has been the most practical one yet.
