Smartphone fans are anxiously waiting for the first-ever under-display fingerprint scanner in a Vivo device unveiled at the CES 2018. We have already shared with you some rumors and reports that suggested Vivo X20 Plus UD might be the phone everyone is looking for. The reports further strengthened when the device appeared on TENNA this week.

Whereas, the fresh leak confirms release date for the most anticipated smartphone and believe me, it is closer than expected – the January 25th for Chinese market in first span. The famous leaker Zyad Atef has tweeted a photo of what is said to be the Vivo X20 Plus UD. The render shows a black variant of the smartphone and looks quite similar to the X20 Plus with 18:9 ratio display.

The only difference between the two variants would be the fingerprint sensor as Vivo has ditched the conventional rectangular fingerprint scanner and has introduced what is called the under-display fingerprint scanner. The suffix of UD indicates the Vivo X20 Plus UD to be the first device getting the trendsetter technology.

As per details, the fingerprint scanner is placed between the glass panel and the OLED display panel. The smartphone uses Synaptics Clear ID, which illuminates the display to read the unique pattern of the finger to authenticate owner of the device.

A quick overview of the latest technology brings us back to the CES 2018 where Vivo showcased the practical induction of latest fingerprint scanner and then leaks and rumors flooded the tech blogs with expected release date and price tag. One of such rumor claims claim that the smartphone could be priced at RMB 3,998 (~$625 or PKR 69,500).

However, if the latest one to be the true then the smartphone could be launched as early as next week.
