Vivo – a renowned Chinese brand has debuted the S series with Vivo S1 as the pioneer device of the lineup. A larger display, bigger RAM and powerful pop-up selfie camera makes the new device worth buying. However, the new device seems to be a rebranded version of the Vivo V15 with a bit difference in camera configuration.
Vivo S1 – Features
The Vivo S1 brings a notch-less 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel on the front that presents Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The smartphone measures 161.97 x 75.93 x 8.54mm in overall dimensions and weighs 189.5 grams. The S1 offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.95 percent and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
The Vivo S1 is a dual SIM supported handset that runs FunTouch OS 9 based Android 9 Pie operating system under the hood. Vivo has used a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset to power up the device that is equipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB native storage. However, a dedicated microSD card slot is also there for an option for additional storage.
The photography department of the Vivo S1 is dominated by a triple camera setup on the rear comprising of an f/1.7 aperture 12MP main sensor, an f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens of 8MP and an f/2.4 aperture 5MP depth sensor. On the front, we have a 24.8MP pop-up selfie camera that can be used for video calling and selfie shooting.
In addition to that, the AI Face Beauty function of the Vivo S1 can identity 103 basic facial features for capturing selfie shots. There is also a Body Camera feature onboard that can automatically adjust the body proportions while shooting photos and videos.
The connectivity features of the Vivo S1 include 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack. The rear shell of the smartphone is fitted with a fingerprint sensor for additional security.
There is a 3,940mAh battery inside the device to keep the lights on. The dual-engine flash charging brings support for 18W rapid charging on the device. There is an independent AI button for summoning the Jovi voice assistant. For enhanced gaming experience, the Vivo S1 is equipped with Game Turbo.
Pricing and Availability
The Vivo S1 is listed on the official website of Vivo China that is up for reservations as of now while the device is scheduled to hit the local market starting from April 1 onwards in two color options to choose from Ice Lake Blue and Pink. The handset carries a price tag of CNY 2,298 (~$342, PKR 48,000).
