Vivo has unveiled another member of its X-series lineup through a launch event held in China. The new smartphone dubbed as Vivo X23 brings fourth generation of in-display fingerprint sensor and 3D glass rear. Vivo claims that the 3D glass back of the Vivo X23 has been constructed by engraving tens of thousands of silk ridges on a diaphragm of less than 80cm2 along with plasma polishing using a unique gas.

Vivo X23 – Features

The Vivo X23 brings a large yet thin bezelled Super AMOLED screen on the front, measuring 6.4-inch in size along with a reduced notch that extends the aspect ratio to 19.5:9. The distinctive feature of fourth generation in-display fingerprint scanner is embedded under the screen that can unlock the phone in just 0.35 seconds. The handset measures 157.68 x 74.06 x 7.47 mm in overall dimension while it weighs 160.5 grams.

The Vivo X23 is a dual SIM supported device that runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS out of the box, overlaid with FunTouch OS 4.1 skin. The Chinese manufacturer has powered the Vivo X23 with a Snapdragon 670 chipset embedded under the hood that is well assisted by 8GB of RAM. The internal storage is limited to 128GB that may also be extended by using microSD card slot.

Vivo has also introduced Twin-Turbo Acceleration Technology through the Vivo X23 that includes two features – System Turbo and Game Turbo. The former one is meant to improve performance of the apps by 100 percent whereas the latter one arranges the resources of the phone to ensure smooth gaming experience.

Vivo has included the trendy dual camera setup on the rear of the phone consisting of a Sony-made 12MP IMX363 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 13MP wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture and field of view of 125 degrees. However, a 12MP lens with f/2.0 aperture is placed on the front to unlock the phone, capture selfies and make video calls. Users can enjoy various photography features such as AI beauty, AI scene detection, AR stickers and more with the Vivo X23.

The connectivity features available on the X23 include dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB-C, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack. Moreover, the Vivo X23 is also equipped with AK4377A audio chip for Hi-Fi audio performance. The handset is fuelled by 3,400mAh battery unit that carries support for 22.5W fast charging.


The Vivo X23 has arrived with multiple color options such as Phantom Purple, Phantom Red and Magic Night with a touch of blue hue. Two more color gradient models are also there with Fashion Purple and Fashion Orange shades having large-sized Vivo branding across the rear panel.


Vivo X23 – Pricing and Availability

Vivo has announced the official sales of Vivo X23 in in China from September 14th onwards with price tag of CNY 3,498 (~$511, PKR 63,000). However, the devices with special Vivo Logo will be made available in the market by Oct. 1.

As of this writing, we have no official confirmation about the Vivo X23 making its way to the international markets. However, keeping in view the market strategy of Vivo, we expect the device to be made available in Pakistan and India very soon. Stay tuned to follow the story.
