Xiaomi has officially made available the Mi 6X launched in China couple of months ago with the brand name of Mi A2 in international markets based on Android One offering. We already expressed our expectations with our readers due to the fact that the company did the same previously for Mi 5X and launched a stock Android Mi A1 version for the international market.

Mi A2 – Features

As the Mi A2 is the Android One variant of the Mi 6X, therefore we have the same design and specs features. We have the same fairly trimmed bezels and rounded corners on the front along with the same vertical dual camera array on the rear, aligned close to the top-left corner and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The 5.99-inch IPS LTPS LCD display panel sports FHD+ (1080 x 2160) resolution along with an 18:9 aspect ratio and ~77.4% screen-to-body ratio.

The Mi A2 is powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with an Adreno 512 GPU controlling the graphics department. Interestingly, Xiaomi offers multiple storage options for Mi A2 to choose from 4GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB memory combos, depending on one’s requirements and budget. However, you should choose wisely, as there’s no microSD slot to expand the internal storage on any of the Mi A2 variants.

The photography department of the Mi A2 sports some impressive sensors made by Sony. The rear of the device is equipped with a 12MP f/1.8 sensor along with a 20MP f/1.8 telephoto lens for extensive zoom and better low-light photography experience. Whereas, the front side offers a single selfie shooter of 20MP f/1.8 lens sported by an LED flash that comes with a host of AI features for background blur and beautification tweaks.

The Mi A2 is a dual SIM supported handset by default that runs Google’s Android One version of Android 8.1 Oreo under the hood, offering the buttery smooth stock Android with almost zero proprietary support from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi has embedded a 3010 mAh battery unit sported by Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 features for Mi A2 to keep its lights on, however it does not seem quite feasible for a phablet having 5.99-inch display.

Mi A2 – Pricing and Availability

The Mi A2 has been spotted on a Swiss online retailer for pre-orders in three color options including Black, Blue and Gold. However, the shipment is announced to start from August 8th.

The pricing for the base variant of 4GB/32GB is set at CHF 289 (~$293, PKR 35,500). Whereas the bigger versions of 4/64GB and 6/128GB will cost you CHF 329 (~$333, PKR 40,500) and CHF 369 (~$373, PKR 45,400) respectively.

Although not yet officially announced but the Mi A2 is expected to arrive other international markets including Pakistan very soon. Stay tuned for further updates.
