As Xiaomi is all set to start its first anniversary in Pakistan, Xiaomi India has confirmed to bring first smartphone of 2018 in the country on the eve of Valentine’s Day that is February 14th. It is really amazing to see how the company has become the second largest selling smartphone brand in India.
The Chinese tech leader started its journey to India with the launch of Redmi Note 4 last year. It was expected to see its successor in January 2018 but Xiaomi kept quiet the entire month. However, the company breaks the silence with a tweet on its official twitter handle revealing that the first device of the year will be announced on February 14th.

If we look at the launch teaser shared by Xiaomi, it does not clearly mention the device that is going to be launched except for a ‘big 5’ and notation that ‘5 is coming’. For me, it will be either the Redmi 5 Plus or Redmi Note 5.
Usually, the Redmi series of smartphones brings 5-inch display whereas the Redmi Note line-up brings 5.5-inch screen. Since the Redmi 5 and 5 Plus smartphones are respectively packed with 5.7-inch and 5.99-inch display, it was rumoured that Xiaomi had no plans to launch Redmi Note 5 in the home country.
However, a newer report has claimed that since Redmi Note 4 met huge popularity in India, the company may launch the Redmi 5 Plus as Redmi Note 5 in the country. This seems to be possible because the Redmi Y1 Lite and Redmi Y1 brought in India were respectively launched as Redmi Note 5A and Note 5A Prime in China.
While these are all speculations; let us wait and see what Xiaomi India brings out of the box on February 14th.
