Xiaomi is all set to introduce another smartphone brand under its umbrella dubbed as ‘Pocophone’ besides already popular ‘Mi’ and ‘Redmi’ series. Rumors were already there on tech blogs that the Chinese manufacturer could launch a new series of smartphones somewhere in August but no official announcements were made. However, a number of tweets from Xiaomi officials has confirmed a bit.
First of all, Jai Mani – the product manager for Xiaomi in India, shared a tweet mentioning that he is so excited to share details of work that he is doing. He ends his saying by tagging two relatively new Twitter accounts having ‘poco’ in common:
Mani’s tweet was quickly picked up and retweeted by multiple Twitter handles of Xiaomi officials including Wang Xiang – the Vice President of Xiaomi, who wished best of luck to Indian Poco team:
Likewise, Mi India’s Twitter handle shared their best wishes for Poco team and mentioned their excitement to see whatever is about to come:
Pocophone – Availability
Keeping in view the above mentioned tweets originating from India, we are of the opinion that though Pocophone seems to be manufactured in India but the brand would be a global one; like Mi and Redmi. A Twitter handle @GlobalPocophone also supports our guess.
Interestingly, photos and video of the Pocophone were surfaced from Romania where the brand was accidentally put up for sale on a Romanian retail store but was quickly removed.
For now, it is confirmed that Pocophone F1 would be the debutant of the series, placing in between the Xiaomi’s Redmi series and Mi flagship phones. The F1 is expected to be unveiled by the end of August.
